Manufactured by BlueScope Steel Australia, REDCOR® Steel Edging is an Australian-made “Corten” weathering steel that delivers a natural, rustic aesthetic, ideal for various landscaping projects.

Unlike other “Corten” or weathered steel products that often use hot-rolled imported steel of inconsistent quality, Formboss’ REDCOR® Steel is cold-rolled, specifically designed to withstand the challenging Australian climate. This meticulous process ensures a cleaner product with a more consistent and uniform finish than any imported alternative.

Despite its rugged, rustic appearance, REDCOR® Steel Edging offers enhanced resistance to corrosion. It forms a protective oxide layer on its surface, creating a stable rust-like finish that self-renews over the lifespan of the steel, maintaining its integrity and beauty.

When new, the steel appears light grey and slightly polished due to a thin oil coating applied to slow down oxidation during storage. Once installed, this layer gradually wears off, initially resulting in a blotchy look that evens out over time, revealing a rich and uniform rust-colored finish. This transformation can take anywhere from a few weeks to four months, but it can be expedited by simply hosing down the edging and wiping it with a clean cloth.

The final appearance will naturally vary based on local soil, air conditions, and climate, with colors ranging from dark orange to deep brown. Over time, the steel will continue to darken, developing a stunning, textured brown patina.
